Workshop

Future proofing your banking workforce

DAY 1 | 16:00 – 17:30 | ROOM 2

Future proofing your banking workforce

The pace of change in the banking industry has been considerable, driven increasingly by the emergence of new technologies including Artificial Intelligence, APIs, mobile banking, new forms of security authentication, the Internet of Things and Blockchain Technology to name just a few.

Banks are self-defining as ‘technology businesses’ and younger bank customers have different expectations of their banks. ‘Millennials’ expect banking to be frictionless – and on demand. Many of them have probably never used a cheque and they don’t expect making or receiving payments to take days or even having to go to a bank branch to apply for a mortgage or loan.

FinTech disruption, along with changing customer expectations, has profoundly affected the knowledge and skill sets required of the banking workforce.

Alongside the traditional skills of credit and customer relationship management, today bankers need to be digitally aware, but must continue to be knowledgeable around banking laws, local and international regulations and conduct rules so they understand what contributed to the financial crises and banking scandals of the last decades. And, along the way, do not repeat the same mistakes!
